Arkheïa becomes heavily involved in the restoration of heritage sites. In addition to the supply of products for statutory renovation, in 2008 and 2009 Arkheïa worked again with the restoration of the heritage involved in the renovation of the amphitheatre of Arles.

Research and finding a solution were done by Arkheïa in order to provide a suitable product for Arenes. The self compacting product had to be an exact copy of the stone used for the construction of the arenas, or the Fontvieille stone. What is more, in order to complete this old stone effect, effects and colours must be found in reproductions of elements made with Arkheïa materials.

Arkheïa therefore formulated and provided to the SELE company more than 50 tonnes of micro-concrete to their specifications, auto-compacting and with very good physical performance. Three colours were validated and retained. This material is very aesthetically pleasing and is really suited to its environment in which it’s used.

The majority of the flagstones that visitors will walk on during their visits to the arenas have been made in this way with this newly developed material (see the photo below). The self compacting properties of this material mean all these elements have been able to be easily made. The effect is very convincing and it is difficult to imagine that these flagstones are not in fact in stone but in concrete.
