Products Properties

What kind of pigments are used by Arkheïa ?

Minerals oxides
Natural pigments, earth and ochres

Can I add my own pigment ?

Yes but  « organic » pigments or painting pigments are less stable in basic environments, like concrete

Can I realize shades with Arkheïa's products ?

Yes, you just need to use and mix different colours/shades with methodology or randomly

What is the best product (MPR ou BTHP) for the manufacture of furniture ?

It is better to choose MPR, because it does not have any withdraw. (Withdraw is a natural retraction of cement due to  its hydratation, its setting. Withdraw is proportional to the element length. This shrinkage can lead to a tile effect for slender pieces. MPR concrete has been developed to obtain a near non-existent withdraw; obtaining slender pieces as worktop)

Can I apply waxed concrete / coating on a floors with underfloor heating ?

Yes, by the way concrete has a good thermic inertia  (it accumulates heat and release it slowly)

Can I apply a coating in a shower  / bathroom ?

Yes, but if the coating is directly exposed to water must be protected with a water-repellent and a waterproffing product

Can I apply coating in stairs ?

Yes, there is no problem

Can I appy the product on a chimney, or in a place summited to heat ?

Yes, with temperatures lower to 150 °C

Can Arkheïa provide / manufacture other colours than the ones in the coulourchart Arkheïa ?

Yes, with a sample of the colour, we can find the corresponding concrete or coating. If this colour requires a research by the R&I department, an extra can be asked.

Can we scratch concrete ?

As most of materials, concrete must be protected depending of its level of sollicitation. A polyurethane protection offers great results in industrial environments

Preparation and Implementation

  • What is the point to use a primer ?

To improve the adhesion when the support is smooth or damaged

Do I have apply a primer for waxed concrete or coating ?

Yes, if your support is smooth or damaged

What tools do I need ?

    For :

Molding concrete in fonction of quantities : an ordinary mixer or a powerfull electric agitator
Coating : an electric drill provide with an agitator
Waxed concrete : an electric drill provide with an agitator or an ordinary mixer depending on the la surface

How much time do I have to correctly apply the product after mixing ?

    BTHP : 1h
    MPR : 10 min
    SBC : 20 min
    EMS : 30 min

What is the minimal thickness we can obtain with MPR ?

For example 2 to 3 cm, for a worktop one meter long

Is Arkheïa staff applying its own products ? Do Arkheïa works with chartered, official applicators ?

Both, depending on the construction site

  • Can we add retardant in order to postpone the concrete setting ?

On demand, Arkheia sells specific retardants

How much water do I have to add to the powder ?

    BTHP : 10 to 11,5 %
10 % if the product is mixed in an ordinary mixer during a long moment
11 to 11,5 if we add more than 2 % of pigment

    MPR : 16 to 18,5 %
16 % if the product is mixed in an ordinary mixer during a long moment
18 to 18,5 if we add more than 2 % of pigment

    EMS : 36 %

    SBC : 16 to 18,5 %
16 % if the product is mixed in an ordinary mixer during a long moment
18 to 18,5 if we add more than 2 % of pigment

Note : Do not hesitate in mixing for a long moment (about 20 min)

Protection and finishes - Treatment

Is it recommended to use demolding oil for MPR and BTHP ?

Every fatty substance can be used (vegetable oil, wax, ...). Apply it with a duster without excess

If it possible to come out a fatty stain ?

Yes, you have to clean it with a solvent for fatty surfaces (alcohol, oil, …). It is better to clean as soon as possible. It is also possible to leave on the solvent for one hour. In every case, it is recommended to do preliminary tests

Floor has been scratched, how can I fix it ?

By coating the crack and then by waxing

Is waxed concrete already waxed or do I need to apply a wax on it ?

You have to apply a product in order to make it shine: oil wax, resin …

Do I have to aplly a protection on my product (whatever it is : waxed concrete or coating) ? If yes, what are they? Where can I find them ?

Depending on the room :
Bedroom, … : simple natural wax or acrylic
Kitchen : water-repellent and superficial surface (glaze, …)

We can buy these products in Home Improvement Superstores or through Arkheïa

When apply a protective product ?

Frequency depends on the nature of the applied product :
Waxed 1 to 2 times a year,
Resin every 5 to 10 years depending on the products

Packaging & Transport

What is the delivery cost ?

About 15% of the products price

How many bags contains a palet ?

56 bags

Distribution networks

Guarantees

How long are certified Arkheïa products ?

Product near indestructible but it is important to be careful with falls

What is the shelf life of a bag of MPR, BTHP, SBC or EMS ? (time and preservation conditions)

6 month to 1 year in a dry place

Who are our references clients ?

Legrand, Supra, CESA, SELE, City of Arles, City of Monaco, Musée de l’Arles Antique (Arles), …

Quantities

  • How much pigment do I need per bag ?

  • 0 to 5% maximum. Depend on the wished final shade
    Ask for the relevant document

How many square meters can I realize with a 25 kg bag of SBC ?

A little bit more than 1 square meter

How many square meters can I realize with a 20 kg bag of EMS ?

    About 10 square meters

How many cubic meters can I realize with a 25 kg bag of MPR / BTHP ?

About 12 liters of concrete, i.e. 0,4 square meters (for a 3 cm thickness) or 1,2 square meters (for a 1 cm thickness).
Products density is 2 for MPR and 2.2 for BTHP.

In conclusion, you just need to calaculate the volume and to multiply by density : Weight in kg = Volume x density x 1000
For example, for a 1 square meters surface, you need : Weight = 1 x 0,01 x 2 x 1000 = 20 kg
